Research Storage

Research Storage is a service to support the data storage requirements of NC State’s research enterprise.

NC State faculty are eligible for this service and may delegate access to additional staff/students.
Individual and Project shares are available.

Google Drive

Google Drive is a cloud-based personal storage, sharing, and collaboration service.

Faculty & staff My Drive quota:100GB.
Shared Drives quota:“5” per shared drive.
Exceptions to quotas are available for short term, large storage needs.

NCSU Drive

NCSU Drive is an on-campus storage service for personal data.

NCSU Drive is accessible via SMB and NFS. Requires VPN to access from off-campus.
Default quota of 20 GB to store files and folders.

OneDrive

OneDrive is a cloud-based storage service tied to Office365.

OneDrive is not officially supported by OIT but is available as part of Office 365
Faculty & staff My Drive quota:100GB.

Wolfware Moodle

NC State uses Moodle as its primary learning management software (LMS).

Instructors can communicate with a class, deliver course content, and facilitate collaboration.
Manage assignments, quizzes, grades and more.

Panopto

Panopto is NC State’s enterprise-level video management system.

Panopto provides essential features such as two-way communication, recording integration, adaptive streaming and more.
Panopto reinforces your teaching and improves student outcomes.

YouTube

Video sharing, storage, and distribution service.

Use Brand accounts for specific YouTube channels tied to a Google generic account. Multiple users can manage the channel using their Unity account.
Caution: YouTube is a consumer service – NC State has limitations in managing if an employee separates.

Globus

Globus allows researchers to move, share, and discover research data in a single interface.

This service spans hundreds of universities, national labs and other research institutions.
Globus can synchronize data to/from Google Drive, HPC, Research storage, or using the Globus Connect Personal app.
